I'll just second what is being said above. As an aircraft mechanic there is a difference between an aircraft "AN" fitting and a motorsports "AN" fitting. Make sure you know what you are buying.

On a side note. Every time I deal with a OEM or "motorsports" hardware, fittings, etc. I always wish it was FAA cert. grade parts. "Come ON People! They knew how to make good hardware ever since the WWII! And the hardware isn't that much more expensive!

Automotive wise the common term is "AN fittings", and are typically made of aluminum. JIC will typically be steel since they are intended for industrial applications. Design wise they are the same except genuine "AN" fittings are made with class 3A threads and JIC uses a lower class 2A thread. For a car, not a bit of difference. Working on air planes? Well, you shouldn't be talking to us about fittings then should you.

If you need info on fuel, or hydraulic fittings, this is a good reference to figure them out:

I think that's where Derek of Vice Grip Garage takes his carbs.

I mainly like using JIC because a lot of the time it's cheaper than AN. Same 37 flare and same nut sizes.

Pirtek should be able to get you what you need, just ask for a JIC fitting instead of AN.

    local source for -an fittings

Looking for local -an fitting source. I need a -8 male to -8 female 45 degree fitting to finish off the install of a better oil cooling solution on the 914. I'd rather get it locally and get this done than to mail order and pay crazy freight to get it sooner.

Working...
