  • MAC Pre-banquet Enduro Kart Race

Once again we will be running an enduro kart race at ProKart in Burnsville on 5 January 2019 before the annual autox banquet. We will start racing at 4pm and expect to be finished with some time to spare before heading across town to the banquet in Apple Valley.

This enduro is open to all and no prior karting experience is required (though it helps!). We will likely run the race as in prior years, though the exact numbers may change based on the number of drivers that show up.

We expect to run a short qualifying/practice session to get baseline times. Using these times, we will make pairs with one driver from the faster half and one from the slower half. We will then run a standing-start race of 100 laps (probably). Each team will need to make a pit stop mid-race (usually no earlier than 20 or 25 laps in and no later than 75 or 80 laps). At this pit stop the first driver will get out of their kart and the second driver will go onto the track in a new kart. The ProKart staff usually use a stopwatch to enforce an equivalent time spent in the pits.

ProKart hasn't set the price for this yet. They generally pick it based on the number of drivers and the number of laps. Expect it to cost $40-45 -- the cost of a typical 3-race arrive-and-drive session. ProKart usually waives the requirement for an annual or weekend license.

We need enough drivers to make it worthwhile for ProKart to keep this space reserved for us. (This has not been a problem in past years, but still...) The track can support 11 or 12 karts at a time, so 24 drivers is a soft limit. If we get more than that, I'll coordinate with ProKart and see what we can work out (maybe we run a longer race with teams of three or something).

If you plan to run this event, copy the list below and add your name to the bottom. Hope to see you there!

I might have to head down there to get a little seat time before the enduro, but I think I'm in!

I'll probably be down there on the 23rd or 29th to use my free birthday week race if you want to join me then.

I just barely fit, if that's any indication.

You barely fit in my car too, but that's a height thing... I'm worried about my width haha

I think you're underestimating how girthy I am.
