  • Ice driving events?

    Hey Folks-

I signed up for the Audi club Ice driving event on Jan 12.

Curious if any other MAC folks are going!

Also, does MAC do any ice driving stuff? Seems like it could be really fun.

it would be great for MAC to run some of these.

2016 plans unknown. Have winter storage, tools and money.

I just saw this as an upcoming series as well.

It's in wisconsin, but they have classes for non-studded tires, which may be fun.

An invading MAC convoy may be fun.

I would be nervous with studded tires. One of my coworkers had an EVO9 that grenaded after a stud got loose and punched through the oil cooler at an ice race. Dumped all his oil, and ran dry by the time a corner worker flagged him.

I picked up some used Menard ice tires from Mark Utecht and TAG put them on my Audi wheels. The Audi is a 1993 90 Quattro with a 2.8 V6.

We had a lot of fun with that car, especially in the oval portion of the event where we straight-lined the long sections and tossed it into the corner to see how sideways we could get, never going around but instead running out of power in second gear.

I might have to get it out again this year.

Having done the event on straight Blizzaks (with my 911SC!!) and studded w/ quattro, the latter left the best memories.

            Make it happen, dude.

And if anybody needs an ice racing car, I hear Ryan Thompson can hook you up.
