    Original post:

I have been asked by several people about karting leagues for this winter. We are not (quite) done with the autox season, but now is as good a time as any to start talking about our kart leagues.

We have been running MAC leagues at ProKart in Burnsville for several years. The guys at ProKart treat us really well. They give us a great rate for the league and run very fun, very competitive events.

In past years, they have charged us $35 per week and have offered an even better rate to drivers who pay for the whole season in advance. They haven't raised prices in several years, so eventually this price will go up a bit. I'll let you know when they decide on a rate for this year, but you can expect it to be in the $35-45 range. And at this price, it is one of the best entertainment values in the area.

Last year we ran two leagues, one on Sunday mornings and one on Tuesday evenings. ProKart is happy to work with us to set up leagues and schedule them for the days that work for us. But, we need to make sure that we commit enough people for the league to make sense. So, let's talk about when to run the leagues and some of the specifics of dates.

So, who wants to run on what days?

We have run the leagues with 10 (or more?) events and with as few as 8. Last year we had 9 events. How many events would we like this year?

Oh. One other thing. ProKart called me and will waive half of the first league fee for the fastest driver at MOWOG 9! So, the fastest driver on index time will get to run a ProKart league for half price!

For anyone who has never done this before: these leagues are a huge amount of fun and are excellent training for autox. I highly encourage everyone to join. If you have questions, please ask and we'll be happy to explain in detail how these leagues run.

If you're interested, copy this list and add your name to the bottom. If you have scheduling preferences, please state those as well! My 15 year old son, Fred, will be running his third season with us. We will both run as many leagues as MAC arranges.

I head south January 2nd, so maybe I can substitute as that is only mid way through winter here.

Yeah, that'll be mid-league. Tell you what, though: you can come run very week until then. The per-week price is still awesome and the competition is great. Sure you won't have enough points for a season championship, but you'll have a great time anyway.

Definitely make it if you can, even if for half the season. It is a lot of fun and is great practice for what we do all summer! Plus, you get to see all of our smiling mugs all winter that way

10-week league is my preference. I'm in for weeknights.
